A Key Driving Manoeuvres

Often referred to as the turn in the road, or perhaps more commonly, the 3 point turn, this manoeuvre is one of the more common manoeuvres that learner drivers are asked to perform during their test.

Once mastered, this manoeuvre will prove to be highly useful when needing to make a turn in a cul-de-sac or roads where there are no side turning or opening to reverse into.

Ideally Positioned

By performing the turn in the road on your test exactly as taught by the team at Surrey A Key Driving ManoeuvresDriving Force, you will be ideally positioned to pass this portion of your test with considerable ease.

During your test and the completion of this manoeuvre, the test examiner will be looking for a demonstrating of 3 key skills. These are:

  • Accuracy – Your examiner will assess your ability to turn the vehicle around 180 degrees without touching the curb or mounting the pavement.
  • Control – Your examiner will assess your ability to keep the speed of the vehicle under control by using a combination of high quality clutch control and simultaneous steering.
  • Observation – Your examiner will expect an effective display of all round observation whilst performing the turn in the road manoeuvre.

The video below will help to provide some valuable insight in to what must be completed.

This tutorial will demonstrate an ideal technique or example, fully explained with instructions, that the examiner will be looking for in order to pass this part of the driving test.

At Surrey Driving Force we will take all of the time needed to fully explain the manoeuvre step by step and provide you with plenty of reference points to make the turn in the road procedure easier for you to complete successfully.
